When the Collet Cannot Be Removed <DWX-4>
Removing the collet and cleaning its interior may resolve the following issues:
- The milling bur chucking has slipped out.
- The milling bur cannot be released.
When removing the collet, it may rotate with the spindle and become unable to be removed. In such cases, secure the lower part of the spindle with tape before removing it.
The DWX-4 is equipped with the "ZS-4D" spindle.
Items for use
- Tape
*Use masking tape, curing tape, etc., that are easy to peel off and leave no residue. - Spanner for collet
- Detection pin
Procedure
1 Remove materials and jigs if they are attached to the machine.
2 VPanel [Settings] > [Maintenance] tab > [Open collet]
3 As the spindle tip descends, wrap the tape around 2-3 times to bridge across the area marked by the two arrows in the diagram below.
4 When ready, align the spanner with the collet and insert the detection pin into the hole of the collet.
*Spanners are supplied in one of two varieties depending on the production period, but either can be used.
5 While supporting the detection pin, turn the spanner to remove the collet. When removing the collet, turn clockwise when viewed from the top.
NOTE
When attaching or removing the collet, use the included spanner and keep the detection pin inserted. If the detection pin is not inserted, the collet may be deformed, resulting in lower milling accuracy.
6 When the collet is removed, be sure to peel off the tape before completing the task.
